Fair-trade report is an annual event which is made to emphasise the importance
of buying fair-trade products that help give people in third world countries
a better life. It runs from the 25th of February to the 9th of March and
in school we set up a stall to let the pupils and teachers in our school
to sample and buy fair-trade products. At our stall we sold fair-trade
chocolate, fruit and fruit juice. As you can imagine, the free samples
of chocolate went down a storm..
Our stall was a huge success and we made £26.78 for charity.
When buying the products for our stall, we found that fair-trade products are normally just as cheap as ordinary products so why not go the extra mile to help others?
Our geography teacher, Miss Devlin said that she would regularly buy fair-trade fruit and fruit juice although she does not find them readily available. Miss Elliott, the home economics teacher in our school also said that the availability of fair-trade products was scarce.
Buying fair-trade products means that the producers in third world countries
get more money for their produce and this means they can build a better
life for their families.
The next time you are out shopping, spare a thought for third world country
producers, give a little, it means a lot.
