Belfast Fashion Week hits our country once again. This extravagant show will be featuring High-class designers and fashionable trends. But what inspirational designer will come out on top? This annual extravaganza is due to take place on 10th –15th March in the Baby Grand in the Grand Opera House. This jam-packed week of events will include a fresh new look from the top High Street retailers to the luxury designer boutiques.

Our own little country town of Newtownhamilton, a sleepy rural area that usually sees its residents dressed in flat caps and willies, is a far cry from the cutting edge fashion trends of the catwalk. However we have our own couple of up and coming fashion designers.

Grace and Faith Hawthorne started off as two normal twins! They dressed the same and had the same taste in clothes. But having a mother as a dressmaker had a great influence on the twins.

They started to help out in their mum’s studio and soon developed their own flair for designing clothes. They had said this about when they started to make their clothes, “We were probably about 6 or 7. Mummy used to make wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses so we would have been out in the sewing room with her giving her a helping hand. If that’s what you would call it!”

They are now taking their passion for fashion to the next level as they have both gained places at Saint Martins Central University London. “We choose to study at Saint Martins because it was the worlds most prestigious fashion collages.”

In ten years time the twins are hoping to have finished their course at their University and have done their exams. They then want to go on and work with some designers for a few placement years. And then, “Hopefully we will have our own brand so watch out!”
