Binge Drinking Report

Binge drinking is a serious matter in Northern Ireland. Martin McGuiness blames soaps for having a bad influence on young people but when we asked our Vice Principal Miss Elliott she said “Children have televisions in their rooms and their parents wouldn’t know if they were watching soaps or not so there would be no point in scheduling these programs at a later time because it wouldn’t make a difference."

We also recorded some vox pops and all the people we asked thought the age limit for buying and drinking alcohol should be raised to the age of 21 as it is in America. Even though the age limit is 18 young people are still drinking when they shouldn’t be. By our market research “Alco pop” style drinks are the most appealing to young people. Also, the advertisements made for “Alco pop” style drinks are mostly aimed at young people, our vice Principal said ”if only the adverts would show the real side of drink; people being sick in the toilets and being hardly fit to walk.”

This is now a situation that the government can no longer ignore and they better take action before its to late.
